【English Translation】 The Generation and Completion Stage of Glorious Black Cloak Mahakala The Generation and Completion Stage of Glorious Black Cloak Mahakala The Generation and Completion Stage of Glorious Black Cloak Mahakala I prostrate with reverence to Vajradhara (the self-nature of all Buddhas) and the assembly of Kagyu (oral transmission) masters, including the great Brahmin. I respectfully prostrate and take refuge in the Three Jewels. To subdue the enemies of the teachings, I practice the approach and accomplishment of the Dharma protector. (Recite three times) In an instant, in the sky before me, a dark cloud appears, surrounded by nine mountains of fire, in the center of which is a lotus and sun cushion. Upon it, from the syllable Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ，hūṃ，hūṃ，seed syllable) arises Black Cloak Mahakala (Legden Nagpo). His nature is the Dharmakaya (body of reality), inseparable from the deity and wisdom. He is a fierce hero, wearing a tiger skin loincloth. His wrathful brows tremble fiercely, he is short in stature, with a large belly. His three eyes are round and red, baring his fangs, and rolling his tongue. His beard and eyebrows blaze like flames. His black hair streams upward into the sky. He is sealed by the lord of the Akshobhya (अक्षोभ्य，akṣobhya，Immovable One) family. He holds a curved knife and skull cup in his central hands, and a gaṇḍi (hand drum). He is adorned with snakes, bone ornaments, and various silks. He is complete with all terrifying attire of dry and wet skulls. Together with the emanation messengers such as Garuda (गरुड，garuḍa，mythical bird), and the entire assembly of oath-bound protectors. All appearances are clear as being without inherent existence. At the heart of the Protector, on a sun disc, is the syllable Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ，hūṃ，hūṃ，seed syllable), surrounded by a dark blue mantra garland. Without distraction, recite the essence mantra with mindfulness. Recite the seven-syllable mantra, etc., as much as possible, and finally, from the heart mantra and mantra garland emanate rays of light. With unbearable intensity, like a whirlwind of fire, burn all the sinful beings who hate the teachings. May they be completely burned and purify their karmic obscurations. Meditate in between and recite. At the end of the session, increase the offerings and tormas through meditation, mantra, and mudras. May the uncontaminated bliss pervade all of space. With this, may the Great Black One be pleased. May the perfect and complete offerings accomplish the wishes of the practitioner. Glorious son, possessing the eye of wisdom. Your body, speech, and mind are inexhaustible treasures. May my body, speech, and mind become inseparable from you. May I become a great protector, never fearing. By this merit, may I, the holder of knowledge mantras. Attain the supreme accomplishment of subjugation. May I subdue all the sinful beings filling the ten directions. May I sever the doors to evil rebirths. This was written by Mati for the purpose of encouraging diligence.
