I prostrate to the holy gurus! With the stainless essence of the Sugata-garbha, with the wisdom that realizes selflessness, having been well-trained by the supreme blessing, with the application of various methods, from the causes and conditions of emptiness and compassion, may that precious sword that perfectly accomplishes and cuts through all the nets of doubt be revered. To the Dharma speaker Donyo Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo (Meaningful Victory Banner of Glory), who holds the treasury of all the scriptures, who cherishes the essence of the teachings, the meaning of emptiness and compassion, and who possesses the supreme yoga of single-pointed meditation, I offer these words to that spiritual friend. I am constantly overwhelmed day and night by distractions, busyness, and indulgence, surrounded by demons in human form, as if being robbed of the opportunity for virtue. May your precious body, like the moon, be free from the obscuration of the clouds of illness, and may you illuminate the stamen of the teachings' lotus with the cool rays of well-spoken words, dispelling all the suffering of those to be tamed and increasing the treasure of auspiciousness. To us as well, please grant a letter adorned with words worthy of praise from scholars and poetry, with a support, so that the joy seen by the eyes of the world is like the wealth of the city of Indra (ruler of gods) obtained by a covetous person, or like walking in a garden of joy. In the present context, as before, for the sake of saving all mother-like beings, even the fiercely burning hellfire is disregarded, and for the sake of eliminating the suffering of endless samsara, please meditate on the essence of all the teachings. Although I urge you in this way, I have no certainty that I will not die even tonight, and for beings as fleeting as smoke, please alleviate their suffering now. Having spoken a few words like those of a Bodhisattva on the tenth ground, please forgive my faults, and may you become the sun of the Sugata's teachings in the future, freed from the side of the opposing Rahula (a planet that causes eclipses), radiating billions of rays of benefit and happiness, causing the crops of virtue to ripen in the minds of beings, and may the darkness of all wrong views never arise.
