【English Translation】 《Collected Works of Dokpupa Sherab Gyaltsen JDol142 A Letter to Dorje Pal, Younger Brother of Lama Konchog Gyaltsen—Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance》 A Letter to Dorje Pal (Vajra Glory), Younger Brother of Lama Konchog Gyaltsen (Jewel Supreme Banner), Dispelling the Darkness of Ignorance {Instructions to his younger brother Dorje Gyaltsen} I prostrate with reverence to the Lama and the Three Jewels! With a minute fraction of a ray of your light, you dispel the darkness of eons, which even the sun cannot illuminate. You reveal the Sugatagarbha (Essence of the Thus-Gone One). I prostrate to the immaculate light of the Dharma Lord's speech. Your mind possesses the glory of scripture and realization. Seeing the unchanging, indestructible Vajra-like meaning, you hold aloft the vast and profound banner of the teachings. May you, the supreme spiritual friend, remain steadfast as the glory of beings! After such praise, I once again report from Jomonang Palgyi Ritrö to that noble being: From your place, I hear that your health is good, your teaching and practice are flourishing, your activities are spontaneously accomplished and expanding greatly, and you satisfy the minds of all with abundant offerings and generosity. The minds of those connected to you are filled with joy and delight, increasing like a summer lake. Here too, thanks to the kindness of the Dharma Lord fathers and sons, my three doors (body, speech, and mind) do not remain ordinary. Regarding the matter at hand, as in the past, like a great minister of a Chakravartin (Wheel-Turning King), with a single mind, you have agreed upon the special intentions of the holy Lama. You have taken care of the health and well-being of the previous one, the activities of the teachings, the giving of the profound path, and the undiminished and increasing activities of the Dharma Lord fathers and sons. In short, you are diligent in the extraordinary and great activities that benefit oneself and others. I hold this deeply in my heart and cherish it with compassion. Please continue to maintain good health and remember this as before. Just as the two wings of a bird work together to lift the body, please continue to act as before to lift beings from the cycle of existence. Just as the two parents of the world care for their beloved child with love, please continue to act as before to care for countless beings like children.

【English Translation】 I beseech! Just as a person's two feet walk to a place where one can walk, so too, to enter the city of the four Svarūpa-kāyas (self-existent bodies), I beseech the noble incarnations to act as before. Especially for those renunciates who are diligent in meditation, I beseech you to look upon them with eyes of great compassion as before. Therefore, due to the inconceivable compassion and activities of the Dharma Lord (Chos-rje) and his sons, relying on Kumbum Monastery, in order to lead all sentient beings to a state of temporary Abhyudaya (higher realms) and ultimately to Niḥśreyasa (definite goodness), to bless the earth, to benefit all kingdoms, and also for the sake of the great patrons, especially for their health and longevity, a large Kumbum Monastery is being built, I beseech you to look upon this with virtuous eyes. As a symbol of presenting this petition, I offer a fine zhwa-yug (hat).
