【English Translation】 Collected Teachings of Ngawang Lodro Drakpa JNLD82: 'The Iron Hook of Arousing Compassion' 'The Iron Hook of Arousing Compassion' 'The Iron Hook of Arousing Compassion' Om Tare (Tibetan: ༀ་ཏཱ་རེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओंतारे, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ tāre, Literal meaning: Om, Tara), Glorious with the intense power of swift and courageous action! Beautiful form, like a fine grove blazing with turquoise light, Where lotuses bloom, swaying with a thousand white smiles, Upon a base made of self-arisen precious essence, Cool and clear streams of nectar flow abundantly, Beautiful sights, like a hundred thousand stars adorning the picture, Adorned with numerous ponds of water possessing eight qualities, Like the chief of a vast and excellent field. In a wondrous, immeasurable great palace, The Holy Mother is verdant green, a mass of turquoise light. The beauty of perfect, wondrous youth blazes forth, The flowers of auspicious marks bloom freshly, And the pendants of the fine net of jewels sway. As if clothed in garments of various silks, She bestows a feast of well-spoken Dharma. A friend who grants coolness and peace to countless beings, The qualities of wisdom, love, and power are limitless. The unfailing protector and mother when prayed to, From the heart, I trust in the qualities of her secret three actions, And call out with a voice of longing. I am helplessly driven by the powerful forces of karma and affliction, Wandering high and low in existence without control. In times of distress, tormented by the three sufferings, There is no other place of refuge than you. A helpless one fallen into the lower realms of samsara, With the intense force of longing and fervent hope, I earnestly pray with clear words, Quickly look upon me with compassion and never abandon me. The sole gateway to benefiting and bringing happiness to beings, The teachings and realizations shown by Omniscient Puramshingpa. May you, as the supreme field of merit for sentient beings, Remain long and may your activities be fully expanded. May there be prosperity and happiness throughout the vast kingdom, And may all signs of misfortune and decline be pacified. May all beings live with new happiness and joy, And may the light of auspiciousness spread to the borders of the land. In particular, may I, in this and future lives, Be inseparable and always held by you, Holy Mother. Whatever actions I undertake with body, speech, and mind, May they all become purely virtuous deeds of Dharma. Having attained this precious human body with leisure and opportunity, May all beings who depend on me, Only do what is beneficial, abandoning all harmful actions, May they abandon all harm and achieve happiness. As soon as I abandon this body, May the vision of the Holy Mother's form be inseparable.
