I prostrate to the venerable and precious Lamas! The stainless essence of the Sugata (Tathāgata-garbha), With the wisdom that realizes selflessness, Having been well-trained by the supreme empowerment, With the application of various skillful means, From the causes and conditions of emptiness and compassion, Perfectly accomplished and able to cut, All nets of doubt, I bow to that precious sword. I request Dharma speaker Donyo Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo, You who hold the treasury of all the scriptures, The essence of the teachings, the meaning of emptiness and compassion, The supreme yogi who meditates with one-pointedness, I offer these words to your ears: I am constantly occupied day and night by distraction, busyness, and enjoyment, Surrounded by demons in human form, As if they are stealing the opportunity for virtue. May your precious body, like the moon, be free from the obscuration of the clouds of illness, And with the cool rays of well-spoken words, illuminate the pistil of the lotus of the teachings, Eliminating all the suffering of those to be tamed, and increasing the ocean of auspicious merit. Regarding me, may your letters be adorned with words worthy of praise from the wise, Embellished with poetry, and accompanied by gifts, That delight the eyes of the world, Like the wealth of the city of Indra (Śakra) in the heavens, obtained by those with desire, Or like strolling in a garden of joy. In the present context, For the sake of saving all sentient beings who were once my mothers, Disregarding even the hellfire that blazes intensely, For the sake of eliminating the suffering of endless samsara, Please meditate on the essence of all the teachings. Although I urge you in this way, what can I do? We have no certainty of not dying even tonight, The minds of sentient beings are as fickle as smoke, Please eliminate their suffering right now. I have spoken a few words like those of a Bodhisattva on the ten bhumis (Daśa-bhūmi), please forgive my faults, May you later become the sun of the Sugata's teachings, Freed from the control of the Rahu of adverse conditions, Radiating billions of rays of benefit and happiness, Causing the seeds of virtue in the minds of beings, To ripen, and may all darkness of wrong views, Completely disappear. 【English Translation】 May the life of the virtuous friend who holds the victory banner (རྒྱལ་མཚན་འཛིན་པའི་བཤེས་གཉེན་) be as stable as the sky. May all beings always enjoy the feast of supreme and excellent teachings and the glory of happiness. As an object of veneration, I offer a cushion and a piece of silk. Written on the twenty-third day of the seventh month of the Dog year at the great and glorious monastery of Sakya (དཔལ་ལྡན་ས་སྐྱ). Mangalam! Bhavantu! (The original is only the Dzamtang edition.)
